THE WATER CLOCK

This dramatic, four-faced water clock designed in 1873 by Father Giovanni Battista Embriaco stands tall in the green heart of Villa Borghese. An astonishing example of mechanical architecture, it employs the underlying fountains water’s driving force to produce pendulum’s swinging, wind the clock and turn on a carillon.
