Located in the Monti district, it is named after the basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli, known for hosting the famous “Mosè” by Michelangelo. The area hosted the possessions of Cesarinis, then of the Frangipanes, of Marganis and of Borgias. In 1500, Cardinal Giuliano Cesarini inaugurated in his building the first public museum of ancient statuary that remained active until 1623, a period in which began the edification of the church of San Francesco di Paola.
