Major contemporary art exhibition opens at Chiostro del Bramante

Following the huge success of LOVE and ENJOY, DREAM. Art Meets Reverie is the final chapter of the trilogy conceived and developed by Danilo Eccher, dedicated to the complexity of human feelings. DREAM is an allegorical ride into soul’s most private side; an ideal journey providing the means for the narrative development of the central topic of dream: a path, a “royal road” – to say it with the words of Sigmund Freud – leading to the unconscious and spiritual dimension of human beings.

The exhibition explores dreams as food for thought and discovery, as an intimate expression, as a door to the inner and most secret human soul. Extraordinary works of art interchange with site-specific pieces precisely conceived for the Cloister of Bramante, in a long, uninterrupted storyline. An itinerary in the guise of a physical, surreal, mental and onirical voyage that takes visitors into a series of landmarks, stages, pauses and departures: from the confrontation with nature to the identification with the shape; from the evocation of personal and collective memories to time crossing; from shadow channeling to light’s full embrace.

The project The Voices of Dream, the first one in its genre, enriches the exhibit with a special audioguide airing 14 short stories by Italian writer Ivan Cotroneo, all inspired by the creative production of DREAM’s leading artists: Jaume Plensa, Anselm Kiefer, Mario Merz, Giovanni Anselmo, Christian Boltanski, Doris Salcedo, Henrik Håkansson, Wolfgang Laib, Claudio Costa, Kate MccGwire, Anish Kapoor, Tsuyoshi Tane, Ryoji Ikeda, Bill Viola, Alexandra Kehayoglou, Peter Kogler, Luigi Ontani, Ettore Spalletti, Tatsuo Miyajima, James Turrell. The voices of Italian actors and actresses – Valeria Solarino, Alessandro Preziosi, Valentina Cervi, Isabella Ferrari, Matilda de Angelis and Marco Bocci, among the others – sound sublimely evocative within the frame of this extraordinary cultural path, free from any didactic restriction.
