The timeless story of Billy Elliot – the Musical returns to inspire Italian audiences with a spectacular production directed and adapted by Massimo Romeo Piparo. After last season’s huge success with audiences and critics, this musical comedy will feature a cast almost entirely renovated: the role of the famous dancer who doesn’t want to give up dancing will be played by a young and talented new protagonist. Based on the 2000 film of the same name, the show includes music by Elton John and lyrics by Lee Hall, who wrote the film’s screenplay. The plot revolves around Billy, a British motherless boy who trades boxing gloves for ballet shoes. The story of his personal struggle and fulfillment are balanced against a counter-story of family and community strife caused by the 1984–85 UK miners’ strike in County Durham, in North Eastern England.
